Wild Horse Heard Advocates watched in horror as Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Contractors, and BLM employees, kill a pregnant Mustang. It was quite obvious she was with foal, and worse, ready to give birth.
“We will not forget Jewel, the wild pregnant mare the BLM killed. She was run down with their helicopters. Then without remorse or even the slightest whim of sanity, or empathy, they shot her. This is where your tax dollars go, killing our wild horses. This so cattle can graze on OUR PUBLIC LAND free or at low cost,” stated a Wild Horse Advocate.
The Facts: these unscrupulous individuals’ with no ethical means of approach to Wild Horse Herd Management, chase down with helicopter an innocent and pregnant Mustang Mare. Yes, they run her down. They threatened her at every step. The slanted blades of their helicopter tipped forward in the chase — nothing more or less than unrelentless psychopathy.
She finally collapsed. She uncontrollably gasped for enough air for both her and her foal. Suddenly, the BLM employees on the ground committed their assault. They approached, insanity at its most profound, then shot the Mustang Mare — They shot her in the head; a foal in her belly. A once would be new born, left to die within its mothers womb. Left in the mud — both left to rot. How sad. The BLM employees laughed while pointing at the dead horse, then turned and left.
This is our American Heritage, the Wild Horses, and the way this government agency treats them. Horses, right along our side in war and work, helped build America. They worked and helped expand and build the wild west. How can this situation, done by this government agency, even take place? How is this even allowed? Humanity at its worst yet. And worse, supported by your tax money.
The Reality — attention toward Wild Horse Herd Dynamics while in the wilds, a far better and less costly management paradigm and methodology, a few thousand yearly compared to the present reality of spending billions — ignored in total by this government agency.
American’s lose — The Wild Horse Herds, and the burden of far more tax money spent on unnecessary and incompetent Public Lands Management. Yes, tax money taken from school lunch programs, from feeding people in America, from Veteran’s who fought our wars and were wounded, and much more — taken and spent on situations like killing Jewel, the mare with foal — yes, killing the innocent for the greedy.

Thank you for all of the work you do for the planet and its inhabitants…maybe you should write an article to the NYTimes and fill them and the rest of America in on the truth of what is going on..it just seems that we can’t get our own country to see or hear about this…why? This should be a headline in every paper…America needs to be informed.

The NYT recently published a totally biased article on mustangs. Dave Philipps, the reporter, wrote an article geared to the propaganda not the truth of this topic. The NYT has not been willing to further investigate nor retract the highly questionable piece, reflecting half truths and hand me down info from a government website that is not deemed reliable – which makes me think the NYT is biased itself in its reporting.

This endorses the fact that there truly is no “freedom of speech” or “accurate reporting” in the press. It is most unfortunate that a leading tabloid such as the NYT would report such propaganda without the benefit of researching facts ……it certainly has changed my opinion on the legitimacy of their news and reporting.

You can bet the NYT doesn’t and won’t care one buck about saving America’s beautiful wild horses…unless the newspaper reap$ great profit$ for its trouble to publish articles attracting readers interested in the plight of these equine icons! What is needed is finding a horse lover in The White House and/ or in The Congress to take action with this issue! The aforementioned and pictured article about killing the Mustang mare w/foal made me feel sick, ashamed of such inhumane behavior and angry enough to contact the Congress reps in my district in Mass. !

Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the human infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defense or survival.
Acts of intentional animal cruelty may be indicators of serious psychological problems. One of the known warning signs of certain psychopathologies, including antisocial personality disorder, also known as psychopathic personality disorder, is a history of torturing animals, a behavior known as zoosadism. According to the New York Times, “[t]he FBI has found that a history of cruelty to animals is one of the traits that regularly appears in its computer records of serial rapists and murderers, and the standard diagnostic and treatment manual for psychiatric and emotional disorders lists cruelty to animals a diagnostic criterion for conduct disorders.

Since I have been involved in this issue, this is the one thing that always comes to mind: the psychopathy of those responsible for this sh**. Sane individuals are not in charge nor carrying out policy. This is sick and sadistic. It MUST be exposed and stopped. The entire BLM needs a full clean out.

Well that has been one of my perspectives since delving into this issue. What kind of human does this to horses? Who chases horses with helicopters, including pregnant mares and tiny foals… and who allows this? It is not normal–it is derange. So what we the people must do is take back the management of these populations from the psychopaths.

Please anyone who goes there… bring cameras and record this as evidence and make copies!!!
Then post on youtube with dates!!!! Then see who you can send the videos to… even possibly the News!! This would have been a good incident to record on video to show people whats really going on with the wild horses and what BLM really are doing!
Maybe the more recorded on video will make someone take action?!
People can just deny a persons word on what they saw… but a video as proof…. you cant really argue with that!
I don’t pay taxes for people to go shoot wild horses just because they can and laugh about it!
This is BS!

Excellent suggestion – as to making videos. Problem with that is that the BLM keeps the photographers from being close enough to record their gruesome behavior toward OUR Wild Horses and Burros. What came out as a testimonial about the killing of the Jack Burro by Cattprs himself is verification that he is a criminal brute and in the name of that Burro and of Jewel the mare and perhaps in the name of Freedom, the stallion that jumped out of the trap recently, we should file a class action.

The blm placed the trap on private land. FOR ONE REASON. That was so observers could NOT get close enough to get the horror recorded. Either on video or photographs. Most roundups are on public lands. Don’t think for a minute the blm did not think this through. They are manipulating, abusive, condescending, and above all think they are above the law. How about a Citizens’ Class Action lawsuit against the federal contractors who are paid to do these roundups? Sue them for damages.
The fine for killing a Wild Horse or Burro is $100,000, thanks to Karen Sussman and ISPMB (International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros).

Checkerboard roundup/Wyoming
We need to gather up some pertinent facts, get our ducks in a row and start making some phone calls…ask some questions and find out what we need to do in order to start a class action lawsuit.
Perhaps we should start with the Cloud Foundation and find out about the status of the current lawsuit, which to my understanding, still hasn’t been heard by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
JUDGE HARRIS L. HARTZ and JUDGE NEIL M.GORSUCH allowed the roundup to proceed without first hearing the merits of the case, giving it a one paragraph dismissal.

Corporations have their lobbyists in Washington, D.C. The people need advocates too.
Public Citizen serves as the people’s voice in the nation’s capital. Since our founding in 1971, we have delved into an array of areas, but our work on each issue shares an overarching goal: To ensure that all citizens are represented in the halls of power.
For four decades, we have proudly championed citizen interests before Congress, the executive branch agencies and the courts. We have successfully challenged the abusive practices of the pharmaceutical, nuclear and automobile industries, and many others. We are leading the charge against undemocratic trade agreements that advance the interests of mega-corporations at the expense of citizens worldwide.
As the federal government wrestles with critical issues – fallout from the global economic crisis, health care reform, climate change and so much more – Public Citizen is needed now more than ever. We are the countervailing force to corporate power. We fight on behalf of all Americans – to make sure your government works for you.

Murderous bastards. Jewel, the pregnant mare, is on the FB timeline photo of the group: BLM WILD HORSE & BURRO/TRUTH. You can see her bleeding from her mouth before she was shot from being stampeded too long too far.
If the contactor’s were Cattoor’s, daddy dave was convicted of hunting wild horses with aircraft and taking them to slaughter. Convicted criminal getting contract after contract to the tune of multi-millions of (taxpayer) dollars to steal and incarcerate our wild equines…and the “other” contractors are just as psycho.

Re: Roundup Contractor Cattoor and Animal Abuse
I believe the photo(s) and additional story and information have been pulled from the internet and no longer available to the public – too bad! The truth hurts but needs to be told. Here is what was still available not long ago. (below)
American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign was able to obtain a single photo slipped through by a concerned citizen revealing yet another accounting of brutal round up practices in their shocking expose, “Death of a Mojave Burro”. Here, an eyewitness exposed how yet another lone burro was run for miles via helicopter until it collapsed. If this weren’t enough, contractors then proceeded to jump up and down on the helpless burros rib cage and belly, grabbed its ears and repeatedly slammed its head into the ground until, finally satisfied, walked away to leave the burro to die a long and agonizing death.
Subject: Mojave notes
Excerpt of Conversation with eye witness 10/11/05, re Mojave burro gather 9-10/05.
They ran one big jack hard with the helicopter and then by the wranglers on horseback, until it dropped with the wranglers ropes around it neck. The horses, obviously, run much faster then a burro. The burro was all lathered up from being run so hard and appeared to be choking from the rope around the neck. Troy Cattoor, son of the owner, picked up the burros head and threw it down hard on the ground. Cattoor then started to jump with both feet on the burros chest. He did this 6 or 7 times. Cattoor was estimated to weight between 180 and 200 pounds. Sometime afterwards blood was seen coming out of the burros nose and mouth. This is caught on still photos and video. It finally died!!

Frankly, this is simply one of many ongoing abuse cases and killing of wild horses. This is not a unique situation, and there are those contractors, to include Nevada as well, that are hired by welfare ranchers to shoot wild horses. Both the welfare ranchers and the people hired to shoot the wild horses are known to BLM Agents, but they apparently will do nothing. . . The same within the other states as well — The BLM useless when it comes to managing or safeguarding our Public Lands and wildlife — and that is what we write about, the facts and issues that face American taxpayers of today — We would like to see the BLM simply discontinued, due to lack of performance and being a waste of taxpayer money!

PZP is not acceptable to many Horse Advocates, that is misinformation and certainly misleading in the Humane Society article. Further, EPA reports and other significant information show that horse’s systems become tainted, and even, basically not for Human Consumption (which is good), but also not fit for predatory or wildlife consumption either — this one of many negative factors while using man-made technology in a Wildlife habitat, and becomes dangerous to all the other animals. It is simply time government agencies step out of the business of attempting to manage our Public Lands and wildlife environments — as the mess they make apparently continuous — until the human factor improves, and government employees can look truth in the face and adapt to truthfulness, they should simply stay our of the wildlife management business all together!.

Agreed, John, and that goes for HSUS too. Wildlife can do just fine without humans playing God.
Sent by R.T.:
We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth. ~ Henry Beston
